Easy day! 3 points in for Muranga SEAL Fc against BIDCO United FC

Joe Waithira delivered another masterclass as Murang’a Seals defeated BIDCO United 2-0 at the SportPesa Arena. The league’s top scorer netted twice in a dominant display, with Lucas Maina assisting both goals. The victory lifts the Seals to 8th place, level on points with Bandari ahead of the season’s final matchday.

Another Week, Another King Joe Special: Joe Waithira leads Murang’a Seals to a 2-0 victory over home rivals BIDCO United.

The mercurial striker guided his team to yet another brilliant victory against relegation-bound BIDCO United, scoring the game’s two goals for a comfortable 2-0 win at the Sportpesa Arena, a stadium both teams call home. This match signalled a true turnaround for the seals, who seem to be finding form at the right time as the season heads towards the final matchday. The mid-season rut that saw the team go eight matches unbeaten is now a distant memory. Coach Dennis Odhiambo seems to have now gotten his charges firing again, with the evergreen King Joe always at the centre of the action. Waithira once again showed why he is the league's top scorer, sealing a home-and-away victory against BIDCO.

Lucas Maina, known affectionately by the fans as the choirmaster, put in a notable shift and should receive a lot of credit for providing both assists, but it was Waithira who stood out. His first goal came after good work from Maina on the left. Under pressure from two defenders, Maina laid the ball off to Waithira at the edge of the box, who then fired a quick right-footed shot to the keeper’s top right for a 1-0 lead. A clean, cultured finish with hardly any back lift, Kevin De Bruyne would be proud. If the first goal was brilliant, the second showed just how good the striker can be, and how devastating the seals can be on the break. After a poor free kick from BIDCO, the ball fell to Waithira, who played a clever backheel to the ever-available Lucas Maina. A quick return pass left Waithira one-on-one with BIDCO’s covering defender. A quick step over later, Waithira shifted the ball to his left and left the defender for dead with his turn of pace. He then fired a left-footed shot across the keeper to the top left for a 2-0 scoreline.

This was a disciplined performance from the seals that saw them climb the ranks to 8th. The seals are now level on points with Bandari, only trailing on goal difference heading to the final match week of the season. They welcome Mara Sugar on Sunday at 3 PM.
