MSEAL Put Up a Fight but Gor Mahia Edge 3–2, Ending Our unbeaten streak
Murang’a SEAL showed grit and determination on 14th January 2026, falling 3–2 to Gor Mahia at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in a thrilling SportPesa League encounter. While the result didn’t go the seals' way, the performance highlighted the team’s character and tactical organisation.
SEALs came out of the blocks with energy and focus, immediately putting Gor Mahia on the back foot. Within the first four minutes, captain Joe Waithira reacted quickest to a loose ball from a set-piece, giving the seals an early lead and silencing the Kasarani crowd. The home side struggled to regain composure, and in the 19th minute, Francis Memusi doubled the seals' advantage with a precise finish following a fast, flowing counter-attack. By halftime, MSEAL held a deserved 2–0 lead, having controlled large periods of the game with disciplined pressing and quick transitions.
Gor Mahia came out of the break with renewed energy and intent, determined to turn the game around. Within minutes, Felix Oluoch capitalised on a defensive lapse to pull one back, giving the home side a lifeline. Pressure mounted, and Paul Ochuoga’s deflected shot soon levelled the score at 2–2, swinging momentum in Kasarani firmly in Gor Mahia’s favour. MSEAL remained composed, defending with discipline and looking for chances on the counter. However, in the 82nd minute, Ebenezer Assifuah produced a clinical finish to complete the comeback, handing Gor Mahia a 3–2 victory.
Despite the defeat, the seal’s tactical organisation, resilience, and early dominance highlighted the team’s growing character and fighting spirit in the SportPesa League. This minor setback is one we are determined to recover from, and with focus and belief, the team looks forward to returning to winning ways in the upcoming fixtures.
