Roaring into the NATIONAL SUPER LEAGUE: MSEAL Lionesses Crowned FKF Women's Div one- Zone A Champions!!!
MSEAL Lionesses- History has been made for Muranga SEAL FC! The Murang'a SEAL Lionesses (Wempa Queens) are officially the 2025/2026 FKF Women Division One Zone A Champions, securing automatic promotion to the FKF Women National Super League (WNSL) for the upcoming 2026/2027 season. 🎉🎉🎉
Under the tactical brilliance of Head Coach Austin Maputo, the Lionesses put together a breathtaking, high-octane campaign. They combined a lethal, high-scoring attacking frontline with an incredibly disciplined defensive backline that choked out opponents all season long.
A record-breaking Campaign
Out of their 15 official league matches, the champions proved their absolute dominance by losing only a single game all year:
- Wins: 12
- Draws: 2
- Losses: 1
The team held off intense pressure from rivals Uweza Women, matching them point-for-point for the majority of the schedule, before tearing away in the final weeks of the campaign to finish at the absolute peak of the Zone A standings.
How the title was won
The championship glory came down to a thrilling, high-stakes final week in June 2026:
The Title Decider (June 3, 2026): Wempa Queens (MSEAL Lionesses) 1 - 0 Silverwind Divas
Travelling to Karatina Stadium, the team, as usual, made an outstanding performance. A solitary, hard-fought goal separated the sides, mathematically sealing the Zone A crown and guaranteeing the National Super League football with a game to spare.
The Grand Finale (June 6, 2026): MSEAL Lionesses 2 - 2 Murang'a Sparks
Returning home to celebrate with the fans, the team played out an entertaining 2-2 local derby at Rurii Primary School. The draw ensured they finished the season on a high before proudly lifting the Zone A Championship trophy to a roaring crowd.
The Lionesses with outstanding performance:
The squad's relentless drive was fueled by standout individual brilliance on both sides of the pitch. Two names, in particular, came to define the grit and elegance of this championship squad:
The Unbreakable Wall
Throughout the 15-match season, our defensive stability was anchored by sensational goalkeeping. Emerging as a true leader, Lilian Mutheu, our starting goal-keeper, orchestrated a defence that kept clean sheets in crucial matches and conceded very few goals all season. Her calm presence under pressure was best demonstrated during the high-stakes 1-0 victory over Silverwind Divas, where her world-class saves in the final minutes preserved the clean sheet and ultimately secured the title.
Our Lethal Finisher
Up front, the team relied on the sheer attacking dominance of our star forward, Justina Katumbi. Wearing the iconic jersey number 24, Katumbi shouldered the pressure of the attack with composure and relentless energy. Alongside her dynamic attacking partner Stella, Katumbi tormented opposing backlines all season. From critical early-season braces to decisive goals on the road, she provided the essential clinical finishing that drove the team to 12 crucial league wins.
Words From the Club
This historic milestone marks the official arrival of Murang'a SEAL's women's outfit onto the national stage. The management extends its deepest gratitude to the players, technical bench, and the unwavering SEAL faithful who turned the stadium into a fortress this season.
The hard work begins now as Coach Maputo shapes his squad for the immense challenge of the National Super League next season.
